A little bit of history.

I have been collecting statues of comic book characters for more than 28 years.  Occasionally I would receive statues or busts that were damaged during shipping and I would have to make the repairs and repaint them.  This evolved into custom painting pieces to my own standards and later developed into kit building.

In 2012, I decided to take an airbrush class at JerseyFestFair. Although I was happy with the work I was doing, I realized that I was self taught and I had been doing things the same way for over 15 years.  That also meant making the same mistakes for over 15 years.  Up until that point I had mainly used oil paints and in the class I learned how to work with acrylics, and also how to detail larger scale figures.

In January of 2013, I suffered a massive heart attack and during my recuperation at home, I had several painting marathons to help keep my sanity.  My skills developed and soon after I started painting for other collectors.

In February 2016, I was given the opportunity to do my first commercial paint job.  I was invited to work on an independent collaboration with sculptor Randy Bowen of Bowen Designs, and UFC Fighter Nathan Quarry.  This 1/6 scale statue is based on the book series Nathan Quarry: Zombie Cage Fighter. The prototypes that I painted were to be used for box art photography and paint masters for the factory.

The official release of the kit version of the statue was at the 2016 JerseyFest Fair Convention.  In the photo to the Left: sculptor Randy Bowen, painter Chris R. Bormann, and comic creator Nathan Quarry.
